picturEvolution continues its merry way and offers lots of new pictures this month.
New vintage postcards of the world: New York and Madrid. Observe the change since the beginning of last century, you'll be surprised how Times Square has changed since the 60s.
You will also discover many new old postcards of Bordeaux along with the current view. Take in a little old rigging in the port of Bordeaux at the beginning of last century!
Again thank you to the site members who have been benefited from these beautiful old photos and a very special thank you to Ludi which allows us to add this month some new pictures out of France through its travek to United States.

 Since the time we thought it had to be done, we finally managed to find time to carry out the pictures from postcards of the beautiful city of Lyon. In a sunny Sunday so we take our bike to travel the city streets. A very pleasant time, then we must admit that Lyon is really a beautiful city. You can now browse photos from the map or simply by typing Lyon in the search box. You can see the changes over Notre Dame de Fourviere see many of the town bridge and once on the scene also known as the place des terreaux or the Place Bellecour in postcards with the photos that accompany today. And this is just the beginning! There are plenty of other places in Lyon we were unable to photograph due to lack of time. If you feel like it made us sign, we provide you with the old views and sandstone of your walks it only remains for you to take photos of these places. |
This month picturEvolution has been decorated with many news photos. A big thank you to the magnificent panorama of the Island of Reunion that we sent a photographer on the island! We thank him warmly for the few photos and postcards from this island. It is with great pleasure that we welcome photos of other islands.
Additional photos from France are waiting for you on: Chiren, Marcillac-Vallon, Orange, Vissec, Valencia ... we let you discover them by typing the name of these cities in search boxes on the map or on the top right of the website. Remember that picturEvolution is a participative website so you can also pick up your camera and send us your pictures. If you have trouble finding old photos, simply click the button "Get your free vintage postcard" available on the homepage.
You can also leave comments under each photo of the website to provide information on the locations photographed. The photographer does not always comment under the photo that we received and many visitors like to read comments enriching place photographed.
Regarding the site itself you could see the emergence of a small flag on the top right of the site. picturEvolution is now also available in English which will enable non-French speaking members to participate also adding old postcards and photos of their countries.
Some improvements were also made on the picturEvolution game based on old postcards scratch (Only in french for the moment). It now has a slideshow mode that allows to directly compare the old postcard of a place with his picture taken today.
The subscription also been improved. It is available in the menu on the right of the blog and you can receive all the news of the site (new pictures and postcards, blog articles, comments or new posts in the forum) simply by leaving your email address and clicking subscribe. You can follow live what is happening on the website and be notified promptly if it comes to your city.
You've probably already noticed, the homepage has changed. You can now find 2 maps. The first one lets you view photos before / after numerous places, on the second one you find only old photos waiting for a recent shoot.
Finally, a video category was created. You can see past Barcelona and a time lapse showing the evolution of a forest on a full year, condensed into 40s, simply beautiful. We will soon add a few other videos showing the exciting evolution of places over time.
For those to whom we sent postcards of their town once, we look forward to receiving your photos of these places you can send us using this form to send pictures. Once received your photos we can send you other old postcards of your city or street. You can not take a picture based on the postcard I sent to you?
